Our President's Journey
"My journey in motorcycling began in 1995 when I purchased my first motorcycle, a Honda CBR 750. At the time, it was one of the motorcycles commonly associated with the traffic and highway patrol units, and it ignited a passion that would grow into a lifelong commitment to motorcycling, leadership, and the brotherhood of the biking community.
Following the CBR, I acquired a Kawasaki 1300, and it was during this period that my involvement in motorcycle club leadership began. I founded the Berserkers Motorcycle Club and proudly served as its President, helping to establish and grow the club's presence within the motorcycling community.
After relocating to KwaZulu-Natal, I was invited to join the Iron Dolphins Motorcycle Club, where I served as Vice President. My involvement in organised motorcycling continued to expand, and I was honoured to be elected President of the KZN Federation, working alongside clubs across the province to promote unity, respect, and camaraderie among riders.
Following my marriage to my wife, Zelda, I returned to the Berserkers Motorcycle Club and once again assumed the role of President. Later, when we relocated to Limpopo, I continued to lead the Berserkers, ensuring the club remained active and true to its values throughout our time in the province.
Upon returning to KwaZulu-Natal, I was recruited by Good Company Motorcycle Club and appointed Regional President for the KZN region. After several successful years, we relocated to Johannesburg, where I remained with Good Company before being recruited by Megaforce Motorcycle Club. There, I was entrusted with the position of President of Megaforce Johannesburg South, a role I proudly fulfilled until our move to Cape Town.
Relocating to Cape Town marked the beginning of a new chapter in my motorcycling journey. While I was required to step down from a presidential role due to existing leadership structures within the region, I joined the Elite Rebels Motorcycle Club and embraced the opportunity to serve in different capacities. I initially served as Road Captain, was later promoted to Sergeant-at-Arms, and was ultimately elected President of the Elite Rebels Overberg Chapter — a position I am honoured to hold today.
Throughout the years, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to the values that define true motorcycling culture — loyalty, honour, respect, brotherhood, and service to the community." - President Piet Bouwer
The Elite Rebels Legacy
The Elite Rebels Motorcycle Club carries a proud history spanning approximately fifteen years. Founded by Mannetjies, the club was built on a vision of brotherhood, respect, and a passion for the open road. Through strong leadership and dedicated members, the Elite Rebels grew into a respected and recognised motorcycle club with a reputation for loyalty, integrity, and community involvement.
When I joined the Elite Rebels, the club consisted of approximately 12 to 14 chapters across South Africa, united by a shared commitment to the values that continue to guide us today. The strength of the club has always been found in its members — individuals who support one another as family, uphold the club's traditions, and represent the Elite Rebels name with pride wherever they ride.
Today, the Elite Rebels continue to grow while remaining true to the principles on which the club was founded. As President of the Overberg Chapter, I am proud to be part of that legacy and excited about the future that lies ahead for our club, our members, and the generations of riders who will follow.
